Common washing machine faults
Not draining
A blocked filter or hose, a coin stuck in the drain pump, or a pump motor that has failed. This is one of the most common calls we get.
Not spinning, or spin is weak

Leaking water

Worn drum bearings, broken shock absorbers or springs, or something trapped between the drum and the tub.
Door won't open or won't lock
A failed door interlock, a broken handle, or a control fault keeping the door locked.
Not filling with water
Low water pressure, a blocked inlet filter or a failed inlet valve.
Water not heating
A heating element covered in scale, a failed temperature sensor or a relay fault on the main board.
Won't start, or stops mid-cycle
A power supply issue, a faulty door switch, a control board fault or a damaged program selector.

Simple habits that prevent most washer repairs
- Clean the drain pump filter once a month. Coins, hair clips and lint collect there.
- Leave the door and detergent drawer open after washing so the seal can dry.
- Don't overload the drum. Heavy loads wear out bearings and shock absorbers.
- Run a monthly hot maintenance wash with a washing machine cleaner or descaler.
- Use low-foam HE detergent in front loaders, and don't overdose.
- Make sure the machine stands level and doesn't rock when pushed at the corners.

Is it worth repairing a washing machine, or should I buy a new one?
If the drum, tub and motor are sound, most repairs (pumps, valves, door seals, brushes) cost a fraction of a new machine. If a repair would cost more than about half the price of a similar new machine, we'll tell you.
How long does a washing machine repair take?
Many repairs are finished in a single visit of about an hour. Bearing replacements or board repairs can need a second visit once the part arrives.
My washing machine is full of water. What should I do?
Switch it off at the wall and close the water tap. If you're comfortable doing it, place towels down and drain the water through the small hose next to the drain filter. Otherwise, leave it and call us.
